Training of Trainers Workshop on Spoken English - A Joint Venture of PDLC and SE

The School of Education, successfully hosted a two-day Training of Trainers workshop titled “Empowering Voices: Training the Trainers in English Speaking Excellence” on October 16–17, 2025. This training was in alignment with the Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) Initiative — a joint venture between Premier DLC and the School of Education, BNU — to strengthen the pedagogical expertise of English language trainers across six divisions of Punjab.

A total of 130 teachers participated in the workshop, both in person and online, representing Lahore, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, and Gujrat. These participants were trained by SE faculty as Master Trainers, who will further train teachers within their respective districts to implement effective strategies for teaching Spoken English.

The workshop opened with a welcome address by Dr. Amra Raza, Dean, School of Education, followed by an orientation by Dr. Shazia Humayun, Head of Trainings, SE-EDx. They both also facilitated sessions on the Presentation–Practice–Production (PPP) model and microteaching techniques, guiding participants through effective classroom strategies. Ms. Shabana Ahmed (Assistant Professor and Head, MPhil Linguistics and TESOL), Dr. Sunnya Khan (Assistant Professor), and Ms. Naureen Zaman (Assistant Professor) conducted sessions on the Teachers’ and Students’ Manuals, along with feedback and assessment methods emphasizing fluency and confidence. Reflection circles and peer-led discussions encouraged collaborative learning and the sharing of classroom experiences.

The event concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony led by Dr. Amra Raza, Dean SE- BNU, and Ms. Erum Rabbani, Head, Premier DLC, acknowledging participants’ dedication to advancing Spoken English language skills and improving teaching practices across Punjab’s school system.
