Beaconhouse National University mourns the passing of Mr. Izzat Majeed, a distinguished entrepreneur, philanthropist, patron of the arts, and steadfast supporter of higher education whose vision, generosity, and commitment to the advancement of learning and culture have left an enduring legacy in Pakistan.
Mr. Majeed believed deeply in the transformative power of knowledge, creativity, and human potential. While he is widely remembered for his efforts to preserve and promote Pakistan’s rich musical heritage, he was equally committed to strengthening institutions that nurture intellectual inquiry, critical thought, and artistic expression. His contributions reflected a lifelong conviction that education and culture are among the most meaningful investments a society can make in its future.

In 2009, Mr. Majeed made a landmark contribution to Beaconhouse National University that enabled the construction of the Seeta Majeed School of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences Building. Named at his request in loving memory of his mother, Mrs. Seeta Majeed, the building was formally inaugurated on 14 September 2011 by Mr. Majeed alongside Mrs. Nasreen Mahmud Kasuri, Chairperson, Board of Governors, Beaconhouse National University.
The ceremony was attended by the renowned human rights advocate Asma Jahangir and BNU’s founding Vice Chancellor, the late Sartaj Aziz, reflecting the significance of the occasion for both the University and Pakistan’s wider intellectual and cultural community.
Today, the Seeta Majeed Building stands as one of the defining landmarks of the BNU campus. More importantly, it remains a living testament to Mr. Majeed’s faith in education and his belief in the value of the humanities and social sciences in shaping thoughtful, responsible, and engaged citizens.
For generations of students, faculty, researchers, artists, and scholars, it has provided a space where ideas are explored, creativity is nurtured, and intellectual horizons are expanded.
Mr. Majeed’s legacy extends beyond bricks and mortar. His support for education, culture, and the arts reflected a rare understanding that vibrant societies are built through the cultivation of both intellect and imagination. Whether through his patronage of music and cultural preservation or his investment in institutions of higher learning, he consistently championed initiatives that enriched Pakistan’s intellectual and creative life.

The Seeta Majeed School of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences will remain a lasting tribute to his devotion to learning and to the memory of his mother, whose name it proudly bears. Through the students who study within its classrooms, the faculty who teach within its halls, and the ideas that continue to emerge from its spaces, his vision will endure.
Though he has departed from this world, his legacy will continue to live on in the minds he helped educate, the creativity he helped foster, and the futures he helped shape.
