A graduate of SVAD’s BFA Visual Arts program, Usman developed his practice through years of rigorous studio work and critical inquiry at BNU. The Charles Wallace Trust, which has long supported artists, writers and scholars from Pakistan in the United Kingdom, now gives that practice an international stage.
A Home for Traditional Arts
The King’s Foundation School of Traditional Arts is dedicated to the study, practice and preservation of traditional arts, from geometry and pattern to the crafts that carry artistic heritage across generations. Over three months, Usman will work within this specialist environment, drawing on its teaching, resources and community of practitioners.
Heritage Meets Contemporary Practice
The fellowship invites Usman to engage closely with artistic heritage while carrying it into a contemporary context. Working where tradition and present-day practice meet, he will pursue research that broadens the scope of his work and strengthens its critical foundations.
A Proud Moment for SVAD
Usman’s achievement adds to the growing number of BNU alumni taking their work onto international platforms. It stands as an inspiration for current students, showing how the grounding they receive at SVAD can open doors to some of the world’s most respected institutions.
