Dr. Tahir Kamran Speaks as NCRC Launches Reports on Minority Marginalization

On August 3, 2025, the National Commission on the Rights of Child (NCRC) launched two pivotal reports—The State of Children in Pakistan 2024 and Situation Analysis of Children from Minority Religions in Pakistan. Dr. Tahir Kamran participated in the dynamic panel, highlighting the historical marginalization of minorities and persistent biases in the national curriculum, fostering critical discussion among government officials, civil society leaders, and academics.

Dr. Tahir Kamran emphasized the structural challenges faced by minority children, while Mr. Peter Jacob addressed forced conversions, and Ms. Baela Jameel called for urgent education sector reforms. Panelists Ms. Mary James Gill, Advocate Miqdad Naqvi, and SSP Mustansir Feroze discussed legal loopholes, enforcement gaps, and the importance of police training and sensitivity in handling such cases.

SSP Mustansir Feroze stressed that law enforcement must act professionally and within human rights frameworks. The event fostered robust dialogue among stakeholders, generating actionable recommendations to safeguard children’s rights, promote equality, and strengthen institutional accountability, particularly for children from religious minority communities.
