Hybrid Launch Event: Dr. Farooq Sulehria’s “Media Subimperialisms and the Rise of Global South”

Assistant Professor Farooq Sulehria from the Seeta Majeed School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences will launch his latest book, Media Subimperialisms and the Rise of Global South (Palgrave Macmillan), on January 20, 2026. Hosted by the Department of Media and Communication Studies at Södertörn University, Stockholm, the event will be conducted in hybrid format.

The book critically examines how media flows, cultural practices, and communication structures shape the Global South’s position in global information networks. Dr. Sulehria explores the dynamics of media subimperialisms and the implications for cultural sovereignty, international relations, and development in emerging economies.
