Renowned Scholar Dr. Syed Mohammed Ali Joins BNU Community as Visiting Fellow

Beaconhouse National University (BNU) proudly welcomes Dr. Syed Mohammed Ali to its esteemed community as a visiting fellow. Dr. Ali, a distinguished academic and expert in anthropology, brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience garnered from his extensive work in the international development sector.

Dr. Syed Mohammed Ali holds the esteemed position of Non-Resident Scholar at the prestigious Middle East Institute in Washington D.C., where he contributes significantly to scholarly discourse on regional affairs. Additionally, he imparts his expertise as a faculty member teaching graduate courses at the Advanced Academic Programs at Johns Hopkins University.

With a PhD. in anthropology from the University of Melbourne, Dr. Ali has honed his skills through various academic and research endeavors. He served as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at McGill University and held the prestigious role of International Policy Fellow affiliated with the Central European University in Budapest from 2004 to 2006.

Notably, Dr. Ali is recognized as a leading authority on issues concerning South Asian asylum seekers, serving as a "Country of Origin Expert" for Bangladeshi, Pakistani, Indian, and Sri Lankan individuals seeking asylum in the U.S. and the U.K.

Dr. Ali's scholarly contributions extend beyond academia, as he has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and the seminal work 'Development, Poverty and Power in Pakistan: The Impact of State and Donor Interventions on Farmers', published by Routledge in 2015.
