BNU Liberal Arts Student, Hania Imran, Shines at COP28 in Dubai

Beaconhouse National University (BNU) proudly announces the remarkable achievement of Hania Imran, a second-semester student from the Liberal Arts Department. Hania participated at the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) held in Dubai, UAE, from November 30th to December 13th, 2023, showcasing her commitment to environmental advocacy.

During the event, Hania had the distinct privilege of participating in two significant panel discussions. The first, titled "Voices of Climate Justice Activists," took place at the Climate Justice Hub, providing a platform for Hania to contribute her insights on this crucial topic. The second panel, organized by Climate Forward Pakistan in the Dominican Republic, focused on "Empowering Youth Voices: Launch of Youth Perspectives on Climate Change Impacts and Resilience White Paper," where Hania shared her perspective on climate change impacts and resilience.

Not content with just speaking, Hania played an active role in organizing one of the final protests held in front of the negotiation rooms, drawing attention to the urgent need for climate action. Additionally, she lent her support to a campaign advocating for an equitable fossil fuel phaseout, highlighting the importance of sustainable practices in addressing the climate crisis.

Hania's dedication to climate advocacy also led her to participate in a negotiation session on the just transition work program, showcasing her commitment to understanding and influencing the policies that will shape the future of climate action.

This impressive involvement at COP28 reflects not only Hania's passion for environmental issues but also exemplifies the caliber of students nurtured by BNU. The university commends Hania Imran for her outstanding contributions and wishes her continued success as she remains an active advocate for positive change.
