BNU is beaming with pride as one of its brilliant alumni, Rabia Khawar Malik, achieves a remarkable milestone. Rabia, who completed her BA (Hons) in Social Sciences with a Major in Liberal Arts from BNU's Seeta Majeed School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences in 2021, has been awarded the prestigious Fulbright Scholarship to pursue an MFA in Creative Writing at Sarah Lawrence College in New York, USA.
Reflecting on her academic journey, Rabia expressed, "I ended up in BNU after a series of failures: rejection from my dream university, and not being able to adjust to another one. For a year at BNU, I was lost. During this time, I studied literature, gender studies, history - disciplines that unknowingly revealed a path for me to follow. When I took Creative Writing with Professor Naveed Alam, I finally found something I enjoyed. Professor Alam taught me to mold my most personal experiences into authentic narratives of culture, womanhood, and familial bonds. His lessons took me to publishing my works in The News on Sunday, The RIC Journal, The Fahmidan, being longlisted for the Zeenat Haroon Rashid Prize, and ultimately scoring the Fulbright Scholarship."
This remarkable accomplishment reflects BNU's dedication to fostering and empowering students to achieve greatness in their respective fields. Our heartfelt best wishes go out to Rabia as she embarks on her journey, and we have full confidence that her creative pursuits will serve as a constant source of inspiration, filling us with immense pride.
