Director at the Institute of Psychology, Dr. Ruhi Khalid along with faculty members and students participated at the First International Conference on “Global Gender Perspective” organized by the Department of Gender & Development Studies, Lahore College of Women University (LCWU) in collaboration with George Washington University and Global Gender Program. Held on 14th-16th November, 2016, the conference was organized at Pearl Continental, Lahore.
Dr. Ruhi Khalid, Director at the Institute of Psychology, chaired a scientific session at the conference. A paper titled “Gender Differences in Academic Achievement: A Systematic Review of Research Literature in Pakistan" authored by Asma Bashir and Dr. Ruhi Khalid was presented on the occasion. Another paper, titled “Parenting Styles and Gender Differences in Self Efficacy and Optimism of Young Adults" authored by Rabia Waqar Khan and Dr. Ruhi Khalid, was presented at the conference.
The faculty and students at the Institute of Psychology also attended the conference that raised awareness about myriad subjects such as gender based violence, family, parenting, marriage and relationships amongst other pertinent gender-related issues. The conference brought together leading academicians and researchers who shared their experiences and research findings on different aspects of Gender and Development Studies.
