FAQs about School of Education

To help you through the application process at School of Education (SE), we've assembled some of the more commonly asked questions here.   • Where is School of Education located?

    School of Education is located at BNU City Campus, 2-C, Zafar Ali Road.

  • Are your degrees recognized by HEC and foreign universities?

    Yes, our degree programs are fully recognized by HEC and foreign universities.

  • Are your professional degrees recognized by NACTE (National Accreditation Council for Teacher Education)?

    Yes, the degrees of M.Phil in Educational Leadership and Management (ELM) and Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) which are professional degrees, are accredited by NACTE.

  • Which degree is required for admission in M.Phil?

    16 years of education are required for admission in M. Phil which means that candidates having 4-year B.A/BSc degree or two-year M.A/MSc after 2-year B.A/BSc degree are eligible for M. Phil.

  • Is GAT compulsory for M. Phil?

    Yes, GAT is compulsory. However, you may take the examination after taking admission in our M. Phil program.

  • Is the tuition fee at School of Education half of what other students pay in BNU?

    Yes. A scholarship of 50 percent is offered to all students of SE in tuition fee only.

  • How many credit hours does one require to complete an M. Phil degree?

    Thirty-three credit hours are required for the completion of M. Phil degree.

  • Is a research thesis compulsory for students?

    Yes. A research thesis is compulsory.

  • I have no experience of teaching. Is this TESL degree program suitable for me?

    Yes. A TESL degree enables one to teach, do research and offer expert advice to NGO’s, think tanks etc.

  • What kinds of employment opportunities are available after completing degree in Linguistics?

    Graduates of our Linguistics program can grab a job in academia (universities/colleges/schools), language survey institutions, language development programs, NGO’s, think tanks and colleges.

  • Is it possible to study in the evening as I work in the morning?

    Yes. All our programs at School of Education are evening programs.

  • Are your students working in professional organizations?

    Yes. They are working in academic, research, NGO’s, administrative and other institutions.

  • After completing their degrees from SE, do students get foreign scholarships?

    Yes. They stand good chances of getting the Fulbright, Commonwealth, Erasmus, Overseas Development Institute and other scholarships.
