Program Overview

The BS in Liberal Arts and Social Sciences at BNU is a four-year, eight-semester program comprising 132 credit hours. It provides a broad-based education that integrates the humanities with strong analytical, research, and writing skills.

Built on an interdisciplinary framework, the program exposes students to a wide spectrum of disciplines, including History, Literature, Political Science, Philosophy, Anthropology, Sociology, and Media Studies . This approach encourages critical thinking, intellectual independence, and informed decision-making as students identify their areas of interest.

In the initial years, core courses establish a foundation across the humanities and social sciences. Later, students customize their academic path by pursuing minors such as Media Studies or Theatre, Film and TV, or by choosing specializations in History, Literature, or Political Science. This flexible structure equips graduates with the broad perspective and transferable skills needed for diverse academic and professional opportunities.

Specializations and Minors

BNU offers three specializations to students in their final years:

• History
• Literature
• Political Science

Students who do not wish to specialize can choose from a range of elective courses across the Liberal Arts. This flexibility allows students to tailor their education to suit their interests and career aspirations. Additionally, students can choose from two minors:

• Minor in Media Studies
• Minor in Theatre, Film, and TV

These minors, which are offered outside the main discipline of Liberal Arts, allow students to explore additional fields of study and gain exposure to areas like media production and cultural studies.

Admission Requirements

To apply for the BS in Liberal Arts and Social Sciences program at BNU, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• F.A/FSc or equivalent with 55% marks, eight pass subjects of O level and three pass subjects of A level, HSD and IB equivalent.
• Admission decisions will be based on academic records, performance in the admission test, and the interview conducted by the respective department.

2. Entrance Test and Interview: For regular admissions Fall 2025, the entrance test and interview are scheduled as follows:
   • Date: August 27, 2025
   • Test Time: 10:00 AM onwards
   • Interview Time: 12:00 PM onwards
   • Venues: SLASS 013 (Test) & SLASS 103 (Interview)
