Associate Professor at Mariam Dawood of School of Visual Arts, BNU David Chalmers Alesworth is participating in the inaugural exhibition of the new Aga Khan Museum in Toronto, Canada. The exhibition, titled “The Garden of Ideas: Contemporary Art from Pakistan,” is curated by Sharmini Pereira and will run from September 18, 2014, to January 18, 2015. The Aga Khan Museum is designed by the renowned Japanese architect Fumihiko Maki.
Mariam Dawood School of Visual Arts and Design (SVAD), Beaconhouse National University becomes the first Art Institute in Asia to have three of its graduates selected for the 5th Fukuoka Asian Art Triennale, Japan. Haider Ali Jan (Batch 2008), Mehreen Murtaza (Batch 2008) and Pradeep K. Thallawatta (Batch 2007) will be showcasing their work at the international contemporary art exhibition which is held every three years.
A 3rd year Fine Arts students at Mariam Dawood School of Visual Art and Design (SVAD), Samiha Fozi Khan has won the first prize at the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) Videography Contest. Her documentary; “Kot Kar” (beaten) was declared the best among 60 films submitted from across the country in the Women’s Rights category.
