Haifa Mudassar, a talented student from the School of Media and Mass Communication's TV, Film and Theatre Department , recently left a lasting impression at the Pakistan Theatre Festival held at the Arts Council of Pakistan in Karachi. Haifa's captivating performance as Naytee in Ajoka Theatre's "Kaun Hai Yah Gustakh," based on the works of celebrated playwright Manto, drew applause and acclaim from the audience.
In "Kaun Hai Yah Gustakh," Haifa portrayed the character Naytee, a woman seeking a license for her horse-drawn carriage, or "tanga ghora," to make ends meet in a society that restricts women from such professions. The play artfully delves into the challenges faced by women in a male-dominated society, shedding light on the paradoxical norms that permit certain professions while denying them respectable careers. Haifa Mudassar's portrayal showcased her exceptional talent and dedication, reflecting the quality of education and artistic development at BNU's School of Media and Mass Communication. Her performance was a testament to the university's commitment to nurturing emerging artistic talent.
The Pakistan Theatre Festival served as a platform to celebrate Pakistan's rich cultural heritage through theater, and Haifa Mudassar's remarkable performance contributed significantly to the festival's success, leaving a lasting impact on the audience and the theater community.
