Advancing Heritage Education: Master of Art Education Faculty’s Contribution to UNESCO’s Punjab Initiative

Ms. Aatiqa Sheikh -Assist. Professor & Program Coordinator for MA Art Education, Ms.Gulnaz Ayaz Sr. Lecturer & Assist. Program Coordinator for MA Art Education & Ms. Jannat Khalid Khalid- Sr. Lecturer & Thesis Advisor for MA Art Education developed student and teachers’ resource material for the second phase of UNESCO’s Heritage Education project “Heritage in Young Hands” in collaboration with Faiz Ghar.
The team was led by Ms.Atiqa Sheikh and Research / Writing for the heritage sites were individually by the group members and developed books for the following sites.
- Sheikhupura by Ms.Aatiqa Sheikh
- Lahore by Ms.Gulnaz Ayaz
- Rohtas by Ms.Jannat Khalid
In addition to this, Ms.Jannat Khalid designed maps for all the heritage sites which were an integral part of the resource material. The books highlighted respect for cultural diversity, pluralism and heritage conservation in Punjab.
After the success of the pilot project in targeted schools in North, South & Central Punjab, this resource material and books will be introduced in public schools across Punjab by PTB.
