Mr. Rashid Rana, a visionary artist and the Dean of the Mariam Dawood School of Visual Arts and Design (MDSVAD), is renowned for his groundbreaking contributions to contemporary art. Aside from his role as an educator, Rana is a trailblazer in the art world. Notably, his concept, 'EXIT Microcity,' showcased at the 7th edition of APAP, reimagines the concept of self-contained microcities, emphasizing the meaningful interconnectedness of various aspects of life. Beyond his iconic artistic practice, Rana has introduced the term 'EART' to highlight moments and acts of self-expression in real life that extend beyond the traditional arts.
The development of EXIT MICROCITY is a collaboration with architect Hala Bashir, and creative contributions by Amna Shahzad, Hamza Aziz, and Jehanzeb Shoaib.
Anyang hosts Korea's largest and longest-running public art festival every three years, focusing on human society, ecosystems, and future technology. This current edition of APAP encourages viewers to explore new ways of looking at the world and understand how citizens interact with their cities.
The festival is set to captivate audiences until November 2, 2023, offering a unique blend of art, innovation, and visionary thinking.
