The Mariam Dawood School of Visual Arts and Design (MDSVAD) at Beaconhouse National University (BNU) in Lahore proudly presented its Annual Degree Show, commemorating the momentous 20th Anniversary of BNU. The sprawling campus came alive with an air of anticipation as this extraordinary exhibition showcased the remarkable achievements of 113 talented undergraduate students, making it the largest and most diverse display of creativity in BNU's illustrious history.

 

For nine days, from June 17 to June 25, 2023, these aspiring artists and designers had poured their hearts and souls into their craft, guided by experienced mentors and fueled by a passion for creative expression. The result was an awe-inspiring array of artwork spanning a wide spectrum of artistic disciplines: from the intricately woven textiles to thought-provoking visual arts, innovative communication designs, and fashion that pushed the boundaries of imagination.

 

The grand opening on June 17, 2023, was nothing short of a spectacle, attended by esteemed guests and prominent figures from various fields. Dr. Shaista Sohail, the honorary Executive Director of Higher Education Commission, Pakistan, along with Dr. Moeed Yusuf, the Vice Chancellor of BNU, inaugurated the event, marking its significance as a national celebration of art and creativity.

 

Prof. Rashid Rana, the esteemed Dean of MDSVAD, expressed his utmost enthusiasm and pride in having the privilege to host such a monumental Annual Degree Show. He highlighted the school's unwavering commitment to nurturing the next generation of creative leaders and commended the students for their dedication and exceptional achievements.

The exhibition drew the attention of distinguished guests such as Kamran Lashari, Tauseef Khawaja, Fawad Khan, Mrs. Nasreen Kasuri, Hassan Sheheryar Yaseen, Imran Qureshi, Muntaqa Paracha, Zulfikar Zulfi, Haroon Rashid, and many other notable artists and celebrities. Their presence not only honored the students' hard work but also inspired and encouraged the young talents to reach new heights in their creative pursuits.

Moreover, the show attracted groups of students from various educational institutes, who visited the exhibition with enthusiasm and awe, witnessing the exceptional display of creativity that left a lasting impact on their minds.

 

During the closing ceremony, honorable guest Mr. Tauseef Khawaja, Chief Executive Officer, Aga Khan Cultural Service Pakistan, applauded the incredible efforts of the students across all disciplines. He emphasized that their dedication and passion for learning will undoubtedly contribute to a brighter future for Pakistan, where art and creativity continue to flourish.
