The efforts of the Punjab Mental Health Authority of which Dr. Ruhi Khalid is a member have resulted in success. They have at last been able to get the bill on Suicide to be decriminalized as approved by the President of Pakistan. Following the amendment, attempted suicide is no longer a punishable act in Pakistan and no legal action can be taken against an individual who survives a suicide attempt.
