Farooq Sulehria Contributes Book Chapter
Dr Farooq Sulehria of Department of Liberal Arts has contributed a chapter to the book ‘Historicizing Myths in Contemporary India: Cinematic Representations and Nationalist Agendas in Bollywood’ (Routledge).
Co-authored with Dr Qaiser Abbas (Methodist University, USA) the chapter is titled: How Hindutva’s ‘other’ views ‘otherification’: Pakistani response to Bollywood’s Saffron myth making.
As the title suggests, this chapter looks at the so-called Bollywood Historicals, 2010 onwards, that glorify Hindutva myths and the response of Pakistani audiences and cultural apparatuses to such Bollywood productions.
Edited by Swapna Gopinath and Rutuja Deshmukh, this book is out in January 2023. Book description and related details are available at:
