Dr. Farooq Sulehria, Assistant Professor in the Department of Liberal Arts (DLA), was on the panel discussion, titled ‘Ertugral Goes East: Turkey Rising in South Asia’, held on October 20, 2021.

Organized by the National University of Singapore’s Institute of South Asian Studies (ISAS) in collaboration with the Middle East Institute (NUS), the panel discussion explored Turkey’s emerging role in the context of South Asia, particularly India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.

The speakers included Dr. Gurol Baba (University of Ankara), Dr. Iftikhar Chawdhury (NUS), and Omar Anas (Ankara Yildrim Beyazit University).

Dr. Sulehria spoke on Turkish soap operas and their growing popularity in Pakistan.
