Dr. Wajiha Raza Rizvi Wins IAMCR Elections

Thirteen of IAMCR's thematic sections and working groups held elections for officers in 2021. Dr. Wajiha Raza Rizvi won the elections and will remain Co-Chair of Gender and Communication Section of world's largest International Association of Media & Communication Research (IAMCR) for four more years (2021-2025). She has been Co-Chairing the Section since 2016, and was Vice-Chair earlier (2015-2016). She was also elected as a member of the International Council of IAMCR in 2020 for two years. As Co-Chair, she has reviewed and assigned 100 to 400 Abstracts annually to Committee Members for review and prepared the Conference Programs of the Section for conferences at Tsinghua University-China in Beijing (2022), The United States International University-Africa in Nairobi (2021), Tampere University Finland (2020), University of Madrid Spain (2019), University of Oregon USA (2018), University of Cartagena Colombia (2017), and University of Leicester UK (2016). She personally conducted one video and seven live sessions of the IAMCR 2021 conference online from 11-15 July 2021. While about 2000 papers were presented at the association's last face to face conference in Madrid Spain in 2019, the number of papers presented at IAMCR 2021 Online Papers Conference was about 1000. Rizvi's Gender and Communication Section made the largest contribution by adding 103 papers to the 2021 conference. BNU MS and PhD scholars presented four papers as co-authors with Dr. Rizvi in this conference as below:

She also received a grant of USD 750 for a symposium/pre-conference titled Being Marginal - Performing Raced and Gendered Emotional Labor arranged by her as Co-Chair of Gender and Communication Section at Singapore-UAE on 03 July 2021. Her live sessions were globally represented by renowned scholars.
