MDVSAD's Alumna Among Top Finalists for Sovereign Asian Art Prize 2021

 

The Sovereign Asian Art Prize was launched in 2003 to increase the international exposure of artists in the region, whilst raising funds for programmes that support disadvantaged children using expressive arts. Held annually, The Prize is now recognized as the most established and prestigious annual art award in Asia-Pacific.

Maimoona Riaz is an Alumna of MAAE and has made it to the top finalists for the prestigious Sovereign Asian Art Prize for 2021.

Mamoona Riaz is a visual artist, art educator and a creative practitioner with professional experience ranging over many fields. She received her BFA degree from National College of Arts in 2011 with Honors and a major in Miniature Painting which scored her the prestigious Haji Sharif Prize for achieving highest aggregate. She received her M.A/M.Phill degree in Art Education from Beaconhouse National University in 2020 with a prestigious UMISAA scholarship.

Over the period she has worked in the curatorial capacities with Satrang Gallery and is also currently serving as a consultant for Foundation Art Divvy and working on various major projects by them. She also served as Art Editor for an international publishing literary journal Papercuts. She continues to serve her alma mater and has been teaching at NCA as a professor of Miniature Painting and other courses designed specifically for new ways of learning and pedagogical practices after her M.A in Art Ed. She is also a core team member of an art collective focusing on art and sustainability and alongside works on various side projects and commissions.

With her professional portfolio she is also focused on her art practice and has been continuously working and exhibiting her work at international and national platforms and her work is in permanent collection of eminent national and international art collectors.
