Joyeeta Foundation, a platform to support and facilitate the grass root level women entrepreneurs of Bangladesh, organized a certificate distribution ceremony for Joyeeta Women Entrepreneurs on Friday, Sep 25, 2020 in the closing day of a 6-day long Fashion Design Workshop held in Joyeeta Design Center at Lalmatia, Dhaka.
The closing ceremony was presided over by Aditional Secretary, Abdur Rouf and was attended among others by Joint Secretary; Shahidul Islam, Deputy Secretary; Masuda Khatun, Nipul Kanti Bala, renowned Fashion Designer; Chandra Sekhar Saha, Textile & Fibre Artist; Mainul Islam and Director of Charuangan; Showkat Hossain.
Mohammad Mainul Islam , an alumnus of MDSVAD (Textile & Fibre Studies), is a UMISSA scholar from Bangladesh. He secured a distinction for his thesis project in craft revival. He has established his own studio by the name of “Mainul Studio” and is a practicing fibre artist contributing to revival of the durree. He has given talks in Dhaka at Britto Art Space and is currently part of the textile faculty at MDSVAD. He makes natural dyed hand-woven durrees and is currently working on a durree collection for his upcoming show. His work echoes the textile department’s vision of craft revival and community engagement.
