IP Organized a Seminar on Stress Management
Institute of Psychology (IP), Beaconhouse National University organized a seminar for its students on “Stress Management” on 26th November 2019. The speaker for the seminar was Ms. Naima Hassan, a UN certified trainer and stress counselor at United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS), Somalia (East Africa).
Ms. Naima is a master trainer of psychological first aid, psychosocial support, stress management, harassment at workplace and hostage incident management, within the UN and other humanitarian sectors. Ms. Naima has completed 22 UN certification training programs including a course work from John Hopkins on Emergency Psychosocial support. She has an extensive experience of practicing counseling skills in disaster and non-disaster situation. Along with this she has provided counseling support to HIV/AIDS patients and 2000 women survivors of domestic violence.
The seminar was very well received by the students as it helped them better understand stress response, taught them about its types and various psychosocial factors involved. Moreover, it also provided them with an opportunity to assess the potential stressors and how to deal with them effectively. Seminar was followed by a question and answer session.
