The School of Computer & IT (SCIT) held its annual Project Demo Day event from 4th to 6th July, to showcase projects developed by final year students. The honorable Mr. Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri was invited as Chief Guest for the opening. His eloquent and heartwarming address held the audience captivated. Dr. Sarmad Hussain, who was awarded the President’s Pride of Performance award in Computer Science last year, was the Guest of Honor. Dr. Sarmad delivered the keynote address for the graduating students and industry professionals present in the audience. BNU Vice Chancellor, Mr. Shahid Hafiz Kardar presided over the opening along with Dean SCIT, Dr. Khaver Zia. BNU dignitaries including Dean SVAD, Mr. Rashid Rana also graced the opening ceremony with their presence.
Over the three-day event, students showcased projects that delved into a variety of cutting edge technologies including Internet of things, robotics, data analytics and artificial intelligence. End products include health care applications, industrial safety support applications, home automation applications, 3D-games and many more. There were also a number of representatives the IT industry, research centers and academia showcasing their work. This created an excellent opportunity for visitors to get a thorough overview of developments in academia and industry, and helped spark collaborative ventures.
At the end of the event an awards ceremony was conducted where shields were presented to the best projects as adjudicated by the invited evaluation panel of judges. Dr. Fakhar Lodhi, the Guest of Honor, delivered a talk on the Professional Responsibilities of a Software Engineer, raising several thought provoking questions for discussion. Mr. Kasim Kasuri was Chief Guest. After visiting all of the project displays and interacting with students, he gave an insightful address on the evolution of IT and appreciated the diversity of work produced by the students.
