SVAD Graduates at India Art Fair 2019
Three UMISAA (UNESCO Madanjeet Singh Institute for South Asian Arts) alumni from Mariam Dawood School of Visual Arts and Design, BNU, Rehana Mangi, Ghulam Muhammad and Gopa Trivedi exhibited their work at India Art Fair 2019 in New Delhi.
Gopa Trivedi’s work process incorporates characteristics and implications specifically related to space, time, degeneration and fragmentation. Not interested in the legibility of text, Ghulam Mohammad entwines colourful forms and textures out of Urdu and Persian letters which he manually carves out of books. It creates a confinement of entangled letters building a new space. Rehana Mangi’s miniature based works are noteworthy for their iconic renditions of hair in graphite along gold leaf on wasli. Her work involves high level of intricacy involving cross-stitch, painting and collage.
