Sahr Bashir, Head of the Jewelry and Accessory Design Department at Mariam Dawood School of Visual Arts and Design (SVAD), has been appointed as the Ambassador for Pakistan by Art Jewelry Forum (AJF). Art Jewelry Forum is an international, nonprofit organization that actively advocates for the field of contemporary art jewelry and the talented artists who create it. AJF appoints individuals as AJF ambassadors for cities and countries that have an art jewelry scene. The appointment recognizes the active role of the individual in the broader art jewelry network.
After graduating from the College of Fine Art (COFA), University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia, with a Postgraduate Degree in Design in 2001, Sahr Bashir established the Department of Jewelry & Accessory Design at BNU, in 2004. Since then, she has achieved many milestones for her work in jewelry and accessory design. In 2014, Sahr became the recipient of Australian Alumni Excellence Award for Education by the Government of Australia, presented by the High Commissioner of Australia, Lahore. She has also been associated with different community based initiatives such as the Iqra project 2016 to promote education for underprivileged children in Muslim countries and Humnawa project 2012 aimed at Skills Training and Product Development for women in Muzaffargarh (South Punjab).
