Dean Seeta Majeed School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and Acting Dean of School of Education, Dr. Tariq Rahman has been listed among top 1% of researchers on academic search engine Academia.edu based on 30-days views for the month of December 2015.
Dr. Tariq Rahman is a well-known academician, columnist and scholar. He is also a HEC Distinguished National Professor and Professor Emeritus at the National Institute of Pakistan Studies, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad for life. From June 2007 till June 2011, he was the Director of NIPS. He is a highly published scholar on language and history having 1 8 books, about 100 articles in scholarly journals, and many entries to encyclopedias and reference books to his credit. On examination of his published work the University of Sheffield conferred a higher doctorate (D.Litt) on him in 2014. He is also the first Pakistani to be honored with one of Germany’s highest awards for academic research called the Humboldt Research Award.
In 2015, two books of Dr. Tariq Rahman were published by Oxford University Press, titled “NAMES: A Study of Personal Names, Identity, and Power in Pakistan” and “A History of Pakistan Literature in English 1947-1988.”
