424 Received Degrees on BNU’s Tenth Convocation
The Tenth Convocation of Beaconhouse National University (BNU) was held on Friday, December 18, 2015 at Tarogil Campus. A total of 424 graduates were awarded degrees on this occasion. Of these, 149 received graduate and the remaining 275 received undergraduate degrees.
The ceremony was presided over by the Chancellor, Honorable Governor of the Punjab, Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana. Also present there were Chairperson, Board of Governors, Mrs. Nasreen Mahmud Kasuri, Vice Chancellor, Mr. Shahid Hafiz Kardar, Mr. Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri, Mr. Kasim Mahmud Kasuri, Dr. Parvez Hassan, Mr. Mueen Afzal and other members of the Board, Deans of BNU Schools including Prof. Dr. Gulzar Haider, Prof. Dr. Tariq Rahman, Prof. Rashid Rana, Prof. Dr. Taimur-ul-Hassan, Prof. Dr. Ruhi Khalid and Prof. Dr. Khaver Zia together with distinguished faculty members Prof. Dr. Mujahid Mansoori, Prof. Sajjad Kausar, Prof. Naazish Ataullah, Dr. Ummad Mazhar, dignitaries, guests and parents of the graduating students.
Mr. Malik Rafique Rajwana while congratulating the graduating students laid out the importance of education in the progressive development of our society. He urged students to play a pivotal by utilizing their degrees to substantiate the need of educated human capital. Mrs. Nareen Kasuri emphasized on the role of educational institutions to produce socially sensitive individuals. She also urged universities to should act as cultural and social epicentres providing not only an opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills necessary to find employment, but also an insight into our cultural roots. Vice Chancellor, Mr. Shahid Hafiz Kardar shed light on the achievements of faculty and students and imparted best wishes to the graduating batch.
17 gold medals were awarded to the students of various BNU departments which included Arfa Kareem and Naseem Hijazi medals. The valedictorian speaker was Mahrukh Malik, graduating student of SVAD with a CGPA of 3.97 in MA Art Education program.
