Two students from School of Media and Mass Communication (SMC) have got admission in PhD (Media Studies) at Dresden University of Technology (TUD), Germany. Sehrish Mushtaq, who has been awarded scholarship on faculty development, and Fawad Beg, have completed their PhD coursework from BNU and developed research proposals under the guidance of Dean SMC Prof. Dr. Taimur-ul-Hassan.
Dresden University of Technology (TUD) is included in the top 200 universities of the world according to Times University Ranking. Both the students are excited to pursue their PhD research at this university. They shared their views with us, as mentioned below:
Fawad Baig
I have been working for the last 10 years as a Producer Programs in Pakistan Television Network (PTV), Lahore Centre. I remained enrolled as a PhD student in School of Media and Mass Communication, BNU, till 2015. Now I am going to Germany where I have got admission in PhD (Media Studies) at Dresden University of Technology (TUD) which is included in the top 200 universities of the world. I have already earned PhD in Computer Sciences. I believe that BNU is the only university in Pakistan that is following the tradition of interdisciplinary research because of which I was allocated a place as a PhD student in SMC. I have learnt a lot at SMC, about research and mass communication theories especially under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Taimur-ul-Hassan. He inspired me a lot because of his strong command on theory and research.
Sehrish Mushtaq
I am a lecturer in Mass Communication Department at Lahore College for Women University. I have been a student of School of Media and Mass Communication at Beaconhouse National University for the last 2 years. Now I am continuing my PhD research at German university Dresden University of Technology (TUD). I believe that my admission to this university is only because of what I have learnt at SMC. At SMC, I have gone through the most valuable learning period of my life. Faculty of SMC has been great and I feel honestly privileged that I got an opportunity to be a student of this liberal arts university. Above all, I am indebted to Prof Dr. Taimur-ul-Hassan for the knowledge he has shared with all of us and particularly for the passion of research that he inculcated in us.
