The cast and crew of one of the most anticipated films of the year, Manto, visited BNU on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 for an interactive session with students. The session was organized by Olomopolo Media in collaboration with the Department of Theatre, Film and Television (TFT), BNU. Present on the occasion were actor-director Sarmad Sultan Khoosat along with well-known actress Sania Saeed, and Jamal Rahman who has designed film's musical score and soundtrack. Kanwal Khoosat, who is the Executive Director at Olomopolo Media, was also present on the occasion.
The session was attended by Dr. Taimur ul Hassan, Officiating Dean of School of Media and Communication (SMC), Mr. Zaeem Yaqoob Khan, Director Students Affairs & External Relations, Mr. Urooj Samdani, Mr. Rana Faizan, Mr. Nasir Ali Mazari, Mr. Qazi Akhyar Ahmad and other faculty members. Students turned out in huge numbers to get an insight on the film which has already created a lot of excitement among cinegoers with its intriguing trailer.
Students were shown the trailer and promotional videos of the film after which an interactive and a very entertaining session with its cast and crew was held. Students asked different questions about film’s plot, its music and how Manto’s work and personal life is translated for the big screen. The makers talked about film in detail and said that the film narrates the events of the last few years of Manto’s life, with some of his most famous short stories interwoven in the plot.
Releasing on September 11, 2015, the film is written by Shahid Nadeem, directed by Sarmad Khoosat and produced by Babar Javed. The multi-faceted Sarmad Khoosat is playing Manto himself while Sania Saeed is playing the role of his wife. The film also features a stellar cast including Mahira Khan, Humayun Saeed, Faisal Qureshi, Nimra Bucha, Savera Nadeem, Saba Qamar who are portraying various roles from his short stories.
