What is the admission Criteria for BSc (Hons) programs of SCIT?
Applicant should have at least 50% marks in Intermediate, A Level or an Equivalent Examination. For Software Engineering program applicants must have passed Mathematics or Computer Science at Intermediate level.

How is Equivalence determined for applicants having A Levels?
A-level applicants have to provide Equivalence Certificate from Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC).

What is weight age of Intermediate marks and Admission Test?
Admission Test is a qualifier. Only those who pass the Admission Test are further considered on the basis of their Intermediate/ A level results and Interview marks.

What is the pattern of SCIT Admission Test?
It has three sections: IQ/General Knowledge, Maths and English. The Test is objective type requiring short answers. There are only a few multiple choice answers. Sample of Admission Test is available here

What happens if an applicant passes the Admission Test, but does not have the required result in Intermediate/A levels?
The student is asked to discontinue his/her studies and improve his/her Intermediate/A level marks. After these marks are improved, the student is allowed to re-join the program.

Is Transfer of Credits from other institutions allowed?
Yes, with the provision that matching courses with a 'C' and above grades are allowed for credit transfer. Further, the applicant's previous program must have accreditation from HEC.

What is scope of Software Engineering program?
It leads to good career prospects in the software industry. There is continuing demand for developers in the industry, especially in field of outsourced applications.

Is Software Engineering program accredited by NCEAC?
Yes, it has been accredited by HEC as well as NCEAC.

How is Software Engineering different from Computer Science?
The fundamentals of both disciplines are the same. However, Software Engineering is concentrated on developing software applications while computer science covers the theory of all areas of computing.

What is the scope of MBC program?
Management and Business Computing (MBC) program is designed to produce managers for the corporate and service sectors. It combines business studies, management and IT; a strong combination for the modern day manager. Further, graduates can effectively manage their family business.

What is the scope of FBC program?
Finance and Management Computing (FBC) is focused on management in financial services sectors like banks, FDIs, Asset Houses etc. It has good scope in the corporate sector.

Can I do MBA after MBC or FBC?
Yes, graduates of MBC/FBC are eligible for Master programs in Business Administration.

Are credits of SCIT programs accepted by foreign universities?
As the programs of SCIT are accredited by HEC, these programs are automatically recognized by foreign universities. However, the decision to transfer credits in Bachelor program or grant admission to Master program is taken by foreign universities on case-to-case basis.

What are the criteria for award of degree?
Students must complete prescribed credits hours of the program with a CGPA of 2.00 or higher.

What are the passing marks in a course?
The passing points are 1.00 which translates to 50 percent aggregate marks. This is calculated based on semester work and final examination.

What happens if a student fails a course?
The student has to repeat the course when it is offered the next time.

Are there any academic warnings? What is the consequence of a warning?
A student is placed on Warning Status if his/her CPGA falls below 2.00. The first time this happens the student is issued First Warning. If it happens again in consecutive semester, student is issued 2nd Warning. In the first year, the student’s admission is closed after award of 2nd Warning. In subsequent years, termination is issued on 3rd consecutive warning.

Can a terminated student rejoin SCIT or any other School of BNU?
The terminated student is not allowed to rejoin SCIT. However, he/she may be admitted to any other School of BNU subject to fulfilling the Admission requirements of that School.
