School of Computer and Information Technology (SCIT), under its Guest Lecture Series, organized a talk by Mr. Fahad Aziz on the topic Building Startup Not Just Apps on 2nd April, 2015. Also present on occasion were Vice Chancellor BNU, Mr. Shahid Hafiz Kardar; Dean SCIT, Dr. Khaver Zia, HOD IT, Ms. Shazia Rizwan and faculty members of SCIT.

Mr. Fahad Aziz is a co-founder and CTO of technology startup, Careaxiom, based out of San Francisco. Careaxiom has won several innovation awards and is backed by top healthcare VCs including GE Ventures and Cambia Health. Fahad has been featured on Fox News, Entrepreneurs Magazine, Tech crunch and numerous other media outlets. He often conducts workshops for entrepreneurs on building successful startups.

In his talk, Mr. Fahad Aziz shared insights on what it takes to build a successful startup, by giving examples of his own journey as an entrepreneur. He said that software engineers can build great mobile and web apps but they often fail to establish a successful startup. He mentioned the do's and don'ts of the business and described different ways of getting funding for startups. He also advised students to apply for Technology Incubator programs in order to get a head start on startup business.

The talk was followed by a very engaging Q&A session. In the end, HOD IT, Ms. Shazia Rizwan presented a token of appreciation to Mr. Fahad Aziz.
