In order to promote awareness regarding the symptoms, diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders, Institute of Psychology (IP), Beaconhouse National University organized a special lecture on Mental Disorders: Diagnosis, Treatment and Classification. The lecture was delivered by an eminent consultant Dr. Sobia Khan, who is serving as Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist at St. Andrew’s Healthcare, Birmingham (UK). Dr. Khan is also working as an honorary senior lecturer at University of Birmingham and an expert advisor to Care Quality Commission in England and Wales.

The speaker provided a broader perspective to the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders. She blended the lecture with examples from her professional experience and kept the audience engaged in active discussion throughout the session. Her lecture enabled students to explore variety of areas on which future researches could be conducted. The session was followed by an interesting question and answer session where students inquired about the diversity in the treatments and scope of future researches.

The lecture was attended by Vice Chancellor BNU Dr. Shahid Hafiz Kardar, Director IP Dr. Ruhi Khalid, Dean SE and SLASS Dr. Tariq Rehman, faculty and students of Institute of Psychology. In the end Dr. Ruhi Khalid thanked Dr. Khan Sobia for taking time out from her busy schedule.
