  • Dr. Hafiz Pasha

    Professor Emeritus & Head Center for Public Policy, Beaconhouse National University, Lahore

    Dr. Pasha has remained Dean of the School of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences and Vice Chairman of the Institute of Public Policy at BNU until 2013. He has served as Chairman of the Advisory Panel of Economists to the Planning Commission, Convener of the Economic Advisory Council of the Prime Minister of Pakistan and Chairman of the Tax Advisory Council of Federal Board of Revenue.

    From 2001 to 2007, Dr. Pasha was UN Assistant Secretary General and Director of the Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific of UNDP. Dr. Pasha has held a number of important public appointments including the Federal Commerce Minister, Federal Minister for Finance and Economic Affairs, Deputy Chairman/Federal Minister of the Planning Commission, and Education Minister in three governments. He has also been the Vice Chancellor of the University of Karachi, Dean and Director of the Institute of Business Administration, Karachi, and Research Professor and Director of the Applied Economics Research Centre, Karachi.

    Dr. Pasha has a M.A. from Cambridge University, U.K and PhD from Stanford University, U.S.A. He was awarded in 2005 the Congressional Medal of Achievement by the Philippines Congress.

    In 2012, he received the Engro Lifetime Achievement Award for excellence in the field of Social Sciences. He has published over 150 books and articles in the fields of governance, public finance, urban and regional economics, poverty and social development, industry, energy, economics etc.

  • Dr. Akmal Hussain

    Distinguished Professor, Department of Economics
    PhD in Economics, University of Sussex, UK

    Dr. Akmal Hussain has B.A. (Hons.) and M.A. degrees from the University of Cambridge and a Doctorate in Economics from the University of Sussex. He is currently Distinguished Professor at the Beaconhouse National University, Lahore, and has earlier served as Founding Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at ITU. He has contributed papers as a panelist at conferences across the world, including Harvard University, Society for International Development, Rome and the UNDP. He has also done research for the World Bank and the ILO. He has advised governments in Pakistan on economic policy as a member of the Prime Minister’s Committee on Economic Policy, as an independent economist, during the period 1989 to 2001 and later in 2010-11. He has also contributed to policy discussions at Wilton Park UK and at consultative forums organized by the governments of the Netherlands and Japan respectively. More recently he has contributed to the international deliberations organized by the UNDP in Bonn, on Sustainable Development Goals, which contributed to the drafting of the SDGs document. He helped build organizations aimed at poverty alleviation and development at the village, district, national and regional levels. He was principal author of the UNDP Pakistan National Human Development Report 2003 and more recently the UNDP Report on Inclusive and Sustainable Development 2017. He has authored/co-authored or contributed chapters to 40 other books on Development.

  • Dr. Atif Hassan

    Dr. Atif is Professor and the Founding Head of the Department of Hospitality Management at Beaconhouse National University. He has served as Dean, Hashoo School of Hospitality Management, Islamabad.

    Dr. Atif is deeply passionate about the field of Hospitality Management. He holds the esteemed Certified Hospitality Professional (CHP®) certification from the Institute of Tourism & Hospitality Professionals (ITHP) UK. Additionally, he pursued an Executive Masters in Management of Hospitality & Tourism from the Metropolitan School of Business Management, UK. He also participated in a Hospitality faculty development program at Sheffield Hallam University, UK.

    Dr. Atif has a Ph.D. in Management from Ifugao State University and Post-Doctorate from AIMST University, Malaysia. He also received Faculty Excellence in Teaching and Research Fellowship award in 2016 from George Mason University, Virginia, USA.

    He also remained associated with the University of Management and Technology as Director, School of Professional Advancement, and Chairman, Department of Management in the School of Business and Economics. Furthermore, he also remained associated with DHA Suffa University, Karachi as a full-time Faculty Member and Manager Foreign Collaborations.

    He has 23 years of Teaching, Research, and Administrative experience in reputed Academic Institutions in the country and abroad. He also taught Strategic Management to the students of Kanagawa University, Japan. His areas of interest in Teaching and Research include Management, Hospitality, Strategy, Organizational Behavior, and Human Resource Management.

    He is HEC Approved Ph.D. Supervisor in the area of Management Sciences.

  • Mr. Ijaz Hussain

    Ijaz Hussain is an Associate Member of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan and also a graduate from Government College University, Lahore. He joined School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences at Beaconhouse National University in 2007. He has 20 years of teaching, research and administrative experience in reputed academic and research institutions of both private and public sectors. His areas of interest include Economics, Accounting and Finance.

  • Dr. Ali Abbas

    Assistant Professor & Cluster Head, Marketing
    Ph.D. in Management Science, Turiba University Latvia.
    Masters in Entrepreneurship and Business Management, Satakunta University, Finland.

    Dr. Ali Abbas is Ph.D in Management Sciences from Turiba University, Latvia and Masters in Business Management from SAMK, Finland. He has years of teaching experience in public and private HEIs of Pakistan of national and international repute. He has also been involved in Erasmus and pedagogy assignments at the University of Economics and Management, Prague (2017) and Poznan University of Economics & Business, Poland (2018). Dr. Ali has presented in multiple conferences across Europe (Poznan, 2017; Berlin; 2018; Kaunas, 2019; Riga, 2019). He has also completed a research course at BI Norwegian Business School, Norway. His research interests include the domain of Higher Education Branding, Entrepreneurship and Followership studies. He is also the HEC Approved PhD Supervisor.

  • Dr. Muhammad Zafran

    Dr. Muhammad Zafran has 10 years of diverse teaching as well as industry experience at national and international institutions serving as a Marketing Manager at Hero Pak Electric Pvt (Ltd) Pakistan, and Teaching Assistant at Turku School of Economics, Finland. He has presented research papers at various international conferences including IASIA- April 2019, KTU, Lithuania, ICSHE 2018, Berlin, Germany, Q-RAM 2018, KU, Warsaw, Poland, XXI 2020, and XXII 2021 at TU, Riga Latvia. Dr. Zafran has also participated in several doctoral trainings and seminars including the EISIAM-EDEN Seminar on Research Methods and Methodology in Cross-Culture Research at the University of Vaasa, Finland, in May 2019; Applied Methods and Methodology in Cross Culture Research and SEM-Structural Equation Modeling at Hanken School of Economics, Helsinki, Finland among others.

    Dr. Zafran has published research papers and a case study in prestigious peer-reviewed national and international journals. He has also served as a cluster head Supply Chain at UCP Business School, Lahore from 2022-2023. Previously, he has also remained a part of the University of Management and Technology, Sialkot campus as a Senior Lecturer in Marketing from 2016-2017; and a visiting lecturer at IBM-UET Lahore.

  • Dr. Jamshed Ali
    Assistant Professor and Head of Initiative for JS Chair on Sustainable Finance & Fintech

    Dr. Jamshed holds a Ph.D. in Management Sciences with a specialization in Finance. He has a decade of experience in the development sector and academia. He has worked in planning and development, consulting for the CDLD project, and as an Assistant Professor at the Metropolitan School of Business and Management. His research focuses on climate finance, sustainable development, governance, and innovation. He has published policy papers on carbon pricing and is a reviewer for esteemed journals.

  • Ms. Hafsa Tanveer

    Omar Naeem, CFA has over 24 years of diverse professional experience in Corporate & Investment Banking, Corporate Finance, Renewable Energy, Supply Chain & Trade Finance, Project Finance & Syndications, Transaction Banking, Marketing, Engineering Management, Aircraft Maintenance, Corporate Flight Safety, and Academia. He has worked in senior positions at a few of the country's top corporate institutions, including ABN Amro Bank, Royal Bank of Scotland, UBL, Bank Alfalah, Askari Bank, Pak Iran Investment Company, and Pakistan International Airlines, PACRA Analytics & Lahore School of Economics. He is an Advisor and Business Development Coordinator at PFAN (hosted by UNIDO and REEEP), an independent director at Flying Cement Company, and the CEO at Finovania.

    Omar has also been associated with ‘Lahore School of Economics’ as visiting faculty where he taught several business/finance subjects including corporate finance, banking & credit ratings to MBA students. Additionally, he has also conducted various corporate training on Financial Modelling, Investments, Entrepreneurial Finance, Supply Chain Finance, etc.. He has also served on the board of the CFA Society Pakistan’s North Chapter as well as IBA Karachi’s admission interview panel. He has also successfully completed various consultancy/ advisory assignments for various local and international clients focused on company valuations, financial modeling, feasibilities and research reports, sector advisories, corporate finance, mergers & acquisitions, capital markets, etc.

    His academic achievements include obtaining the ‘Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)’ charter in 2011, an MBA degree from ‘IBA Karachi’ in 2003 where he topped the Program, B.E. (Avionics) degree from College of Aeronautical Engineering, PAF Academy Risalpur. He is also an SECP-certified director from LUMS and a trained financial modeler. He is also a Ph.D. scholar at Universiti Teknology Malaysia (UTM).

  • Mr. Ahsan Ahmad

    Mr. Ahsan is a Ph.D. scholar with over 10 years of experience in academia and industry. He has a strong background in investment analysis, financial analysis, and portfolio management. His expertise lies in conducting research, providing insightful investment recommendations, and optimizing portfolios. With a deep understanding of financial markets and a track record of delivering results, he is well-equipped to contribute to both academia and the industry. Over the years, he has trained numerous students to pursue their financial careers in a challenging business environment. His teaching interests encompass financial markets, corporate finance, investment and portfolio management, entrepreneurial finance and financial statement analysis. Besides his academic interest, he also provides consultancy services in portfolio management and financial projects.

  • Ms. Misha Saleem

    Lecturer

    Ms. Misha Saleem completed her B.Sc in Economics and Finance from Lahore School of Economics with silver medal and MSc in Economic and Finance with gold medal. Her teaching and research interest centers around microeconomics applications. Her published research is on effect of ownership rights on credit accessibility in urban Lahore and norms of social behavior tested on a small sample of students in Lahore through lab experiment.

  • Ms. Sana Iqbal

    Sana, has over 7 years of experience in academia. She has done MS in Management Sciences with major in finance, from COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, and completed her BS in Business Administration from COMSATS Institute of Information Technology with silver medal. She has published her research in reputed international journals like Journal of Asian Economics and Global Business Review. Her research is also presented in fourth European Research Conference on Microfinance, held in University of Geneva in June 2015. In addition to that, she has worked as a research fellow on projects under Beaconhouse Center for Policy and Research (BCPR), and as a research associate on project titled “Charter of Economy – Agenda for Economic Reforms in Pakistan” published by Friedrich-Ebert- Stiftung (FES) in 2021. Her research interests include microfinance, corporate governance, corporate social responsibility and sustainable consumption.

      Dr. Izza Aftab is an Economist by profession. She is a BNU Alumnus and did her doctorate in Economics from The New School in New York in 2016 on a Fulbright scholarship. She was previously associated with Information Technology University at Lahore.

      Dr. Izza's research interests include firm level innovation, economics of innovation, SDG, CPEC, BRI, structural macroeconomics and child protection. Dr. Izza has published numerous academic articles and book chapters. She regularly contributes to leading English dailies. Izza has also advised the provincial government on various economic policy.

      Dr. Izza is a member of the only team of researchers from Pakistan which won the prestigious Google Research Scholar Award 2020 for their winning project. She founded the SDG Tech Lab at ITU in collaboration with United Nations Population Fund and United Nations Development Program to find tech-based solutions to achieve SDG targets. Izza and her team use remote sensing and computer vision to detect slums in Pakistan's cities and document the level of development and deprivation in these parts of the society. Izza was the Program Director of Safer Society for Children set up in collaboration with the US Embassy to detect, report and prevent child sexual abuse in Pakistan with, The SSC conducted workshops with school students in Kasur and Sheikhupura, their parents and teachers and developed a free online course for awareness and preventive action by the society.
