BNU can make a difference
BNU
is different because it is the only liberal art university in Pakistan
offering a wide range of courses in art, design, architecture,
journalism, media films, television, economics, psychology and teacher
education.
BNU
is different because it offers cutting edge technology which not only
improves the learning capacity of students but also their standing in
the job market.
BNU
is different because of the academic excellence and deep commitment of
its faculty members and the dedication of its staff.
The
total strength of regular faculty will increase next year from 66 to 78,
including 7 foreign faculty members. The renowned economist, Dr. Hafiz
Pasha joined BNU in 2008 as Professor of Economics and Dean of the
School of Social Sciences. He is also serving as the Vice Chairman of
the Institute of Public Policy, an independent think-tank for research
on economic, social, political and foreign policy issues.
The
proportion of students studying for Masters and M.Phil degrees is now
18% percent of the total students strength of 1200. Currently 30% of the
students at BNU are receiving merit based or need based scholarships.
The
first academic block at the new campus of BNU has been completed. Two
Schools, the School of Visual Arts and the School of Architecture and
Design will shift to the new campus in September 2009 with state of the
art facilities for students.
The
job placement of BNU alumni bears ample testimony to the quality and
relevance of the courses offered by BNU. During the past three years, a
total of 300 students have graduated from BNU, 128 with Bachelors’
degree, 118 with Masters’ degree and 54 with Postgraduate Diploma. It is
gratifying to note that 273 out of these graduates have already found
remunerative jobs. Another 26 graduates have moved on for further
studies, including 8 who have received Fulbright Scholarships.
Welcome
to the exciting world of BNU.
—Sartaj Aziz, Vice Chancellor
