TFT organized Interactive session with Iranian storyteller Farzada
Department of Theatre, Film and TV (TFT), BNU in collaboration with Aks International Minorities Film Festival organized an interactive session with Iranian storyteller Farzada on March 8, 2018. Farzada is an expert on the story of Mehmood-o-Eyaz.
Two short films by Aks Film Festival were also screened in this session. The first one was The Selfhood (Wajood) directed by Vishal Srivastava. It follows a young Hijra's life, who seems to fancy herself with the auto-rickshaw driver. When confronted by the seniors of her community about her unrealistic expectations, she goes on a subconscious quest to find if somebody will ever fall in love with her. The second short film was Katchi directed by an alumna of BNU, Amina Malik. Katchi opens up with the young Saad, who falls outside the gender binary.
Growing up in a middle class family and striving for his true self, Saad encounters several gruesome events of bullying and being molested by other boys in school, and faces the issues of acceptance and intolerance from the family.
The 4th edition of Aks International Minorities Festival, Film – Art – Dialogue, Pakistan, will take place from 8th – 25th March 2018.
