BNU hosted the 7th British Council Counsellor's Symposium
Beaconhouse National University hosted the 7th British Council Counsellor's Symposium at Tarogil Campus on February 16, 2017. Career counsellors, faculty members, and heads of departments from various educational institutions and educational consultants attended the symposium. Panel discussions and workshops were held throughout the day aimed at the professional development of participants in terms of their role as student counsellors.
The Symposium featured plenary and parallel sessions on a range of contemporary topics on international education and trends in student counselling. The speakers and presenters included acclaimed education consultant and career counselor, Syed Azhar Husnain Abidi; Country representative University of Warwick, Mr. Zeeshan Riaz; Head of Beaconhouse Access Centre – North, Mohmmad Ahad Gul; Director Student Affairs and External Relations BNU, Mr Zaeem Yaqoob Khan; Digital Manager British Council Sannan Mastani; and International Officers University of Manchester, Mr. Dan Herman. Head of Services for International Education Marketing (SIEM), Ms. Saman Imtiaz moderated the panel discussion.
Director Education of British Council Pakistan Ms. Nishat Riaz was also present on the occasion. In her concluding address, she said that British Council aims to contribute to the professional development and training of advisors and counsellors by providing them opportunities to share best practices, challenges and networking through such symposiums.
The British Council Counsellor's Symposium is the only national event organized in Pakistan for career counsellors. The project was piloted in 2012 and since then has been running successfully. BNU has earlier hosted the symposium in March 2012.
