The Department of Journalism offers:
1.
1. A four semester M.Phil degree
2.
A four semester MA degree
3 An eight semester BA (Honors) programme

The aim of the undergraduate program is to introduce students to the history, fundamentals and basic skills of journalism and mass communication, thereby laying the foundation for advanced level studies (MA) in journalism and mass communication at SMC.

M. Phil

This is a four semester (two year) programme with a total number of 60 credits. The pre requisite for M Phil is a Masters degree in Social Science/ Mass Communication.


M.A in Mass Communication

The Department of Journalism awards an M.A in Mass Communication to students who complete 72 credit hours.. This programme is aimed at introducing students to mass communication theories and advanced journalism besides imparting them skills and techniques to become good professionals.

This programme is useful in preparing students for specialization in a wide range of fields of mass media, including the print and electronic media, photography and new media technologies.

Admission requirements

1. BA from any recognised university at least in 2nd Division
2. Written / aptitude test
3. Interview

B.A (Honors) Admission Requirements

1. FA / FSC / A levels or equivalents
2. Written / aptitude test
3. Candidates with work experience in communication and media related work will be given preference.
4. Interview
