The Department of Literatures and Languages at the School of Liberal Arts is committed to providing outstanding education for students from across the nation. Among the choice of major subjects offered at SLA ; English Literature and Language is one of the most diverse and dynamic options available to postgraduate students. As an international language, English cannot be ignored for very practical reasons and in order to 'get ahead' in one's professional life, it is imperative to be highly proficient in it. MA programmes at SLA encourage students to think and write critically - skills that can be applied to a wide range of career choices beyond the span of a postgraduate degree. Graduate students for Literature have the option of specializing in one of three streams namely: (a) Literature and the Visual Narrative,
(b) Postcolonial Literature, (c) Literature and the Dramatic Performance. These specialization streams are structured to inculcate literary appreciation and more importantly, to empower students to practically critique and manipulate English as a powerful medium of expression. |
