ADMISSION OPEN FOR SPRING SEMESTER 2008 |

OVERVIEW |
The MA in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL)
aims to connect theory and practice in second language
teaching, providing up-to-date knowledge of principles
and issues in the field, together with consideration
of their practical implications. It is designed especially
for those working as teachers, teacher educators, curriculum
developers, and examiners in the field of English as
a second or foreign language. The programme has modules
in language description, pedagogy, assessment and management-related
fields, as well as in Computer Assisted Language Learning
(CALL) to provide updated technology integrated pedagogical
techniques and strategies.

STRUCTURE |
| The MA TESL programme comprises
four (04) semesters consisting of nine (09) core and
two (02) elective courses. Out of seventy two (72) credits
earned over two years, 42 are reserved for course work
and 30 credits for the research dissertation. The programme
is offered through two modes: a) regular programme and
b) modular programme. |
REGULAR PROGRAMME |
Candidates can complete the programme
in two consecutive academic years, which means after
successful completion of the first year the students
with minimum GPA of 2.50 may proceed for the MA in their
second year.

MODULAR PROGRAMME |
| In modular mode candidates can complete
the programme in four years. After successful completion
of the first year, the candidates can either enroll
directly into second academic year of MA, or they can
get a PGD and enroll for the second year of MA any time
in the next three years. |

Management programme is designed to equip participants
with the essential knowledge and skills required to
lead organizational change and development. It is intended
to develop and extend leadership capability and capacity
within educational organizations. The MA in Educational
Leadership and Management is particularly relevant to
senior and middle managers in educational institutions,
commercial training departments and other educational
organizations. The degree will enable participants to
develop and improve their knowledge, understanding and
practice as educational managers and leaders.
