Welcome to The Beaconhouse National University (BNU) Library. We seek to provide patrons with a welcoming and comfortable environment that promotes intellectual exploration, research, and learning.

We are very proud to announce the SVA/SCAD Library has moved to the Mariam Dawood School of Visual Arts at Tarogil Campus. The main Library remains at the City Campus on Zafar Ali Road.

Our mission is to serve Beaconhouse National University students, faculty, and staff, as well as researchers and alumni. We aim to further the vision of the university to educate future citizens of Pakistan to be knowledgeable, tolerant, culturally diverse and proactive.

The library is served by wireless Internet service and is stocked with study tables, a circulation desk, periodicals, books, DVDs, diverse collections of library resources and knowledgeable and helpful staff. The library subscribes to Ebrary to make accessible various electronic journals and magazines on its website. The library has collections of Architecture, Visual arts, Literature, Education, Psychology, Mass communication, Economics, IT, Textiles, Jewelry, Photography, Theatre, Film and Television, Geography, History, Reference Books, Encyclopedias, Dictionaries etc.

Subscribed Full Text Electronic Journals

The Beaconhouse National University provides its community Local Area Network (LAN) access to electronic, bibliographical and reference databases courtesy of the Digital Library. Research students requiring access may contact any librarian.

 

Library Use and Conduct

All Library patrons are expected to comply with the library use policies. Use of the BNU library is a privilege, not a right.

  • Library patrons are requested to use library resources and facilities in a quiet, clean, and peaceful manner respecting the rights of other patrons to access of the same.

  • Library patrons are expected to respect and care for all library materials, equipment, and property and may not remove items from the Library without proper checkout or authorization.

  • Library patrons must not engage in disruptive behavior that interferes with the normal use and operation of the libraries.

  • Library patrons must not alter, damage, or destroy any Library materials, computers or database

Circulation Policies

Q. How do I obtain borrowing privileges?
      Present current, valid identification like University ID Card at the library Circulation
      Desk.
Q. What are the charges for overdue, lost or damaged materials?
     The fine for overdue materials is Rs.10/ per day.
     The fine for lost or damaged materials is the current market price of the book plus 
     200%. The fine for the semester will be paid with the next fee bill at the Finance
     Office.
Q. How many materials can I check out?
     Students can check out two books/DVD's at a time.
Q. What are the loan periods?
     Books can be checked out for fourteen days and DVDs for three days.
Q. How do I renew materials?
     The library allows limited renewals subject to request of the said material.
Q. What are Reserve Books?
      Reserve Books are books reserved by faculty for a particular course/subject. These
      books are kept at the Library Circulation Desk and can be checked out for use in
      the library for two hours at a time only. The faculty member will guide students to
      the books.

Other Facilities

Photocopying facility is available in the library for a nominal charge.

Privacy Policy

The Beaconhouse National University respects each library user’s right to privacy and confidentiality with respect to information sought or received and resources consulted or borrowed.
